At Prosper for Purpose, we're proud to be able to give back to our local communities. Supporting others is ingrained in our DNA and, well, mom was right — "It's better to give than to receive."

That's why we began our 12 Months of Giving campaign in 2016. It allows us to provide 12 Northeast Ohio nonprofits (one per calendar month) with:

  1. Three (3) hours of free strategic consulting on a current challenge
  2. Promotion through Prosper for Purpose's website, social media accounts and various other channels

This month, we are honored to have the opportunity to help Local Abundance Kitchen.

Local Abundance Kitchen LogoIn 2017, Jennifer Thornton founded Local Abundance Kitchen, a nonprofit that offers cooking classes led by refugees and immigrants. The ethnic classes and workshops provide refugee women with a path to meaningful income, while also teaching them new language skills and how to handle social situations.

Many refugees are eager to share their culture through foods such as boulettes and beignets. And for most, the profits they receive directly from participant fees are essential. The income the women receive not only takes care of the essential needs of their families, it also helps them reach goals such as securing employment or starting their own business.

Local Abundance Kitchen is in need of volunteers, cooking spaces and monetary support to help with the cost of cooking ingredients. If you'd like to make a donation, take a class or read about the organization's success stories, visit
